The Parsons Design Workshop is an innovative design and build graduate-level architecture studio that offers pro bono design and construction services to non-profit organizations.

THE project 2017

Currently in its 20th year, this year’s Design Workshop at Parsons partnered with the Children’s Museum of the Arts in lower Manhattan.  CMA is a community organization whose mission is to bring art therapy and education to all populations of children throughout NY. The Design-Build Studio was tasked with solving the Museum’s issues with the current lobby organization in order to improve the lobby experience for incoming patrons and allow users to properly understand, navigate, interact with and enjoy the space.

The new lobby strengthens our ability to welcome all children and their families to make art at CMA. We are delighted to have the opportunity to work with students from The New School to create an innovative and inviting entry to the museum.
— Barbara Hunt McLanahan, Executive Director of CMA
